During the school holidays you need a few ideas up your sleeve and here’s a fabulous outdoor option for a sunny – or at least dry – day.
One of the perks of living in Barnet so close to the Green Belt is that we’re minutes away from treats like 300-acre Fold Farm and the delicious ice cream made with milk from their dairy herd. The owners, the Lewis family (Lewis of London), now have an ice cream “parlour” and shop open to the public with an outdoor play area. There are hay bales, a tractor, sand-pit and various animals including bunnies and a very cute calf called Wafer – so plenty to keep younger kids amused.
On our visit the ten-year-old was feeling a bit grown up for most of this, so we sat and indulged ourselves. My double espresso with salted caramel ice cream hit the spot wonderfully and A loved her cinnamon ice cream. In the spring sunshine it was idyllic – a perfect local spot to make the most of good weather and don’t forget to stock up while you’re there.
Directions from Barnet
