On the High Street in a prime spot on the corner of Moxon Street is boulangerie/patisserie Joie de Vie. They also have a popular branch in Ballards Lane, North Finchley, just by Tally Ho Corner, which is where most of the baking is done – and the baked goods are very good indeed.
The menu features an all day breakfast including eggs royale or Florentine, omelettes, scrambled eggs and French toast made with their home made brioche. There are also crêpes, savoury and sweet, a good range of salads, sandwiches, tartines (open sandwiches) and a soup or quiche of the day. However, you could keep it simple and just go for coffee and a croissant or treat yourself to some gorgeous patisserie. Drinks wise, there are freshly squeezed juices, smoothies and milkshakes and a decent selection of hot drinks, although no fresh mint tea which would be deliciously refreshing with their luxurious cakes. There is just the one toilet, but it includes a large baby changing area and the café has plenty of highchairs.
The staff are warm and welcoming. What’s more Joie de Vie has created a stylish, yet classic shop front that sits beautifully on our historic high street. Other traders should take note.
