Songs for Summer! London Pro Arte Choir
17th June 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
£18Premier of David Stoll’s ‘All the World’s a Stage’, based on text from Shakespeare’s ‘As you like it’. Still with Shakespeare, we have Songs and Sonnets by George Shearing and also Ernest Moeran’s settings of Elizabethan poems.
In summery mood, we are very pleased to be singing two settings by Paul Ayres: ‘Sumer is icumen in’ (we hope it will be by then) and ‘Reasons for Singing’ based on a preface by William Byrd.
Byrd wrote ‘Since singing is so good a thing, I wish all men would learne to sing.’ Of course, we agree with that!
