Googlies Jazz Supper Club
Googlies Jazz Supper Club hosts some of the country’s best jazz musicians and offers a optional freshly prepared two course meal with table service and a well stocked, reasonably priced bar in the intimate setting of Botany Bay cricket pavilion. Music at Googlies covers a wide range of styles including Mainstream, Bebop, West Coast, Latin etc with interpretations of many ‘standards’ and jazz classics. The bar will be open from 7pm. The Big Choir London is a community "no audition" fundraising choir. We raise money for Cancer Research, and have a lot of fun doing it. We're singing contemporary pop songs, anything from the 60's to modern day, we'll be trying a few show tunes and maybe even some gospel. Anything is possible! Come and join us.... Find out more »Finchley Chamber Choir: 50th Anniversary Concert
The choir's 50th Anniversary concert, exactly to the day it was formed, will be held on Saturday 11 November 2023 and will see them return to St James's Church, 197 Piccadilly, London W1J 9LL. In company with the Linden Baroque Orchestra, they will perform the inevitable Vivaldi Gloria along with Handel’s Dixit Dominus - one of his finest and most challenging choral works - and JS Bach’s celebratory motet Lobet den Herrn. Tickets: £20.00; concessions (including students and over 60s) £18.00; under 18s £10.00 are available from the choir's website or on the door.

Finchley Chamber Choir is currently looking for a few new voices. It is a friendly but hard-working locally based group of about 30 singers, usually giving five concerts each season in Trinity Church, Nether Street, North Finchley, N12 7NN, as well as other occasional performances at home and abroad and some BBC broadcasts. The regular rehearsal night is Tuesday (7.45pm - 10.00pm) at their concert venue. The choir performs the widest range and variety of music from the Renaissance through to new commissions, from unaccompanied motets and part-songs through to full-scale choral works accompanied by its sister organisation Finchley Symphony…

‘Froissart’ is the first large-scale piece Elgar wrote for full orchestra. Inspired by the 14th century writings of Jean Froissart it celebrates chivalry, Elgar including this quotation from Keats on the score: “When Chivalry lifted up her lance on high.” Whilst an early work the combination of nobility and emotion in the music is unmistakeably Elgar. Sarah Williamson, a former BBC Young Musician finalist, has performed at major concert halls around the world with leading ensembles including the LSO, the Academy of St Martins in the Fields and the European Chamber Orchestra.
