Our What’s On section has been rapidly filling up with summer events taking place around the area, so it makes sense to give you a couple of handy summaries. This first one focuses on school summer fêtes/fairs/fayres. Another will follow next week looking at more general events.
There are some excellent reasons for supporting local school fêtes:
1. They are fun and a great way of feeling part of the community.
2. They raise really important funds for the school.
3. They allow you to get to know local schools in a relaxed environment – useful for parents with nursery age children. There’s only so much you can find out from Ofsted and even from open days, and you can be pleasantly surprised.
4. Cake!
